International art collective teamLab – well known for its massive immersive exhibitions – is set to open a museum in Singapore’s new area called Wetlands by the Bay, by end 2028.
Part of the new development phase for Gardens by the Bay area (GBTB) which opened in 2012, Wetlands by the Bay will be an extension of the existing Kingfisher Wetlands. Once completed, it’ll be at least three times larger – about the size of seven football fields – and feature more than 600 mangroves and coastal plants.
A star attraction will be the opening of international art collective teamLab’s flagship museum, offering a multi-sensory pedal kayak experience, where guests will be surrounded by installations that blend into the natural wetlands landscape.
Furthermore, a cantilevered canopy boardwalk will extend over the Kingfisher Wetlands, bridging the nearest GBTB station and key attractions within Bay South Garden.
Construction for the new wetlands area will begin in 1Q 2027, and open in tandem with Bay East Garden, offering an enlarged immersive waterfront gardens experience around Marina Reservoir.
Meanwhile, another massive project is also in the works – wellness enclave Therme Singapore – right next to Marina Barrage and Gardens by the Bay.
