Capella Hotel Group names Roland Fasel as new president

Capella Hotel Group has appointed Roland Fasel as president, effective 6 April 2026.

The seasoned luxury hospitality executive joins with more than 30 years of international experience to lead Capella Hotels and Resorts and Patina Hotels & Resorts, tasked to lead the group's global expansion to double the current portfolio by 2030.

"Roland has transformed iconic properties by elevating both culture and performance – proving that excellence in luxury hospitality is both an art and a discipline. As we expand globally, we need a leader who can strengthen our competitive position while deepening the culture that differentiates us,” said Evan Kwee, vice chairman, Capella Hotel Group.

The hospitality journey started with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in the US, before Fasel moved to various leadership roles across Southeast Asia, where he then took on his first GM role with Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts.

He was most recently Group chief operating officer at Maybourne Hotel Group, where he oversaw a portfolio including Claridge's, The Connaught, The Berkeley, The Maybourne Beverly Hills, and The Maybourne Riviera.

Fasel was also chief operating officer at Aman Resorts from 2017 to 2023, overseeing the opening of Amanyangyun in China, Aman Kyoto in Japan, and the landmark Aman New York.

Prior to this, he served as GM at Badrutt's Palace in St. Moritz, and was involved in the launch of the Dorchester Collection when he was GM of The Dorchester and regional director UK overseeing Coworth Park and 45 Park Lane.
