SINGAPORE – KOP Limited’s Wintastar Shanghai project will become the world’s biggest sports-entertainment integrated mega complex, spanning 227,000sqm, when it opens in 2022.
This also marks Singapore-based real estate development and entertainment company, KOP Limited’s maiden entry into China.
“I am pleased that the development of Wintastar Shanghai is progressing on schedule…it’s also timely, with Beijing Winter Olympics happening in 2022 and Lingang New Area now designated as part of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone,” said Ms Ong Chih Ching, Executive Chairman and Executive Director.
Within, the massive complex will be home to the world’s biggest alpine-themed indoor ski resort with winter sports facilities, offering three ski slopes of varying gradients and over 20 snow play attractions. Next door is a Viking-themed water park across two floors, offering 20,000 sqm of indoor and outdoor fun such as an infinity pool, beach club, hot springs and spa experiences.
For accommodation, travellers can book themselves into one of over 920 keys across four themed hotels: Montigo Luxe, Montigo Hotels, Montigo Residences and Montigo Ice. The lattermost will incidentally become Shanghai’s first ice hotel, the 16-room Montigo Ice featuring ice carvings all-year round.
Apart from alpine-themed décor, modern travellers will appreciate the experiential elements and use of smart technologies that will be a core part of the Wintastar accommodation experience.
With leisure and accommodation sorted, the other half of Wintastar’s integrated concept goes to 20,000 sqm of retail and F&B, not forgetting venues for shows, exhibitions and events – reaching out also to the business delegates.
This is a joint investment by Wintastar Holdings, a subsidiary of KOP Limited, together with Shanghai Lujiazui Development (Group) Company Limited and Shanghai Harbour City Development (Group) Co – who joined hands to set up Shanghai Snow Star Properties Co., Ltd for this project.
