Guam's Air Vaccination and Vacation (Air V&V) programme, which was introduced in June to allow visitors to receive Covid-19 vaccine shots, has met with positive reception from Taiwan.
Weeks into the programme, so strong is the demand that Taiwanese travel agencies are now rolling out even more tour slots for vaccine tourists to receive their jabs in Guam, a US territory in Micronesia.
Lion Travel, for instance, among the first to offer tour packages to Guam in Taiwan, has revealed that all slots under its recent 5D4N tours and 7D packages scheduled for July and early August have been sold out, reported Focus Taiwan.
Even its longer 22D stay packages have seen a strong take up, with a majority of its customers under 50 and many travelling with children. The travel agency is now pre-selling more 5D4N packages in August.
Another major Taiwanese agency, Phoenix Tours, has also rolled a seven-day trip to Guam for 12 August, with a starting price of NT$55,900 (US$1,985), according to the Focus Taiwan report.
Visitors to Guam just need to present a valid negative Covid-19 test result on arrival to be exempted from quarantine. Vaccine tourists to Guam have a choice of Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson brands.
Travel Weekly Asia earlier reported that American expats residing in Thailand are taking up vaccination vacations in Guam.
