Virgin Hotels has launched a virtual reception solution for select hotels in the US, and soon worldwide, in the era of "contactless everything," says Denise Walker, VP of Information Technology.
Launched in collaboration with technology by Virdee, guests are offered the digital option to check in either at the self check-in kiosks, or on their phones via Virgin's 'Lucy' mobile application.
The process first uses advanced biometrics solutions or two-factor authentication to pull up a guest's reservation status upon arrival.
From there, guests can submit payment, sign terms and conditions and submit special requests. Remote assistance is available with the touch of a button, otherwise, guests should leave the kiosk with a physical key to access their rooms.
Members of Virgin Hotels loyalty and preference programme – The Know – will enjoy an even swifter process, since the app is able to tap on pre-stored guest information.
Apart from reducing operating costs, Virdee’s fully digital check-in solutions are geared towards an improved guest experience as "global recovery is under way and it’s imperative that we continue to prioritise our guests’ safety," adds Walker.
The self check-in kiosks are currently deployed at Nashville, and piloting at Virgin Hotels in Chicago and Dallas. More are expected to be planted as the brand opens more hotels worldwide.
