Heartbreak after a relationship breakdown is often hard to bear, but a new survey identifies destinations where it’s easier to heal that broken heart.

SplitUp, a US firm offering advice to couples following a relationship breakdown, analysed worldwide data, examining safety scores, accommodation costs, and wellness-boosting factors to reveal the top destinations where heartbreak transforms into healing and new beginnings.

Top of the list is Tokyo, followed by London and Auckland. Asian destinations in the Top 10 are Seoul and Singapore.

Tokyo, the survey found, boasts 1,815 wellness retreats and spas – more than anywhere else on the list - plus one of the highest safety ratings, “so people can explore with complete peace of mind”.

For those seeking the therapeutic benefits of water, Tokyo offers 375 beaches, lakes, and rivers to help restore emotional well-being.

Singapore secured 10th position in the list, earning praise for its 209 wellness retreats and spas and the highest safety rating of all top ten destinations.

Unsurprisingly, Singapore has the least number of lakes, rivers and beaches, and the second highest median hotel price, behind only Gothenburg in Sweden.
