The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) and Princess Cruises have announced a three-year, multi-ship deployment from 2027, reinforcing Singapore’s position as a key Asia Pacific cruise hub.

Under the partnership, Princess Cruises will deploy three ships – Diamond Princess, Sapphire Princess and Grand Princess – with sailings expected to double by 2030.

The cruise line said the move could attract over 150,000 travellers, as it continues positioning “Singapore [as] a cornerstone of our Asia Pacific strategy,” said Matthew Rutherford, VP Asia Pacific.

The deployment builds on the 2026-2027 season, where Diamond Princess and Sapphire Princess will simultaneously homeport in Singapore from November 2026 to February 2027.

Supported under STB’s Cruise Development Fund, Princess Cruises’ 2027-2028 Southeast Asia collection will connect 29 destinations across nine countries, spanning Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia, on extended 10- to 28-day itineraries, the cruise line shared with Travel Weekly Asia.

Round-trip sailings from Singapore will call at destinations including Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand, alongside longer voyages between Singapore and Japan.

Shore excursions range from mangrove cruising along the Kilim River in Langkawi, ancient temple visits in Hoi An, to the mountaintop Buddhist retreat at Fokuangshan Monastery in Kaohsiung.

The cruise line noted that Singapore’s role as a seasonal homeport is expected to accelerate fly-cruise demand and attract “a strong base of international passengers”, particularly from mid- to long-haul markets including Australia, the UK and the US.

Calling the partnership a “testament to Singapore’s position as Asia’s premier cruise hub,” Jean Ng, assistant chief executive, experience development group, STB said that the deployment “broadens our premium cruise experiences and supports our Tourism 2040 vision to drive quality tourism growth through a strong pipeline of differentiated products”.

“With Asia Pacific emerging as a key growth region for cruising, Singapore is well-positioned to capture fly-cruise demand and connect the world to the best of Asia,” she added.
