When Blackpink member Jisoo isn’t taking on concert stages, she’s having virtual dates in Cebu, Philippines – while filming her latest Netflix show, Boyfriend on Demand.

The romantic comedy series features a young, overworked woman who turns to a virtual dating service that sends her on a string of fantastical romances.

While most of the show is set in modern South Korea, viewers have taken to social media discussing the tropical scenes filmed in Cebu earlier in February 2025.

Several luxury resorts around Mactan Island were featured, including Shangri-La Mactan Resort and Spa, Bluewater Maribago Beach Resort and the Nustar Resort & Casino.

Jisoo’s romantic interest, Seo In-guk, is a celebrity tourism ambassador of the Philippines and has appeared in several destination campaigns earlier.

South Korea is a major inbound market for the Philippines. In 2025, 1.34 million South Korean travellers visited, representing nearly 21% of total international arrival numbers, said the Department of Tourism (DOT).

Cebu ranks as a top destination, favoured for its beaches, diving sites, and diverse tourism experiences.

DOT has additionally urged travellers to “explore a variety of experiences”, amid a national energy emergency declared in the Philippines on 24 March, as the Middle East war stifles oil delivery globally.

Ideas range across “walking or biking tours; farm visits and community-based tourism activities; staycations; wellness and nature escapes within nearby areas” among others, in a 31 March Facebook post by the DOT.
