Contemporary elegance meets comfort at Momentus Hotel Alexandra, the new flagship property of Momentus Hospitality. Tucked away on Alexandra Road, in the heart of Singapore’s culturally rich Queenstown district, this 442-room upscale hotel distinguishes itself by its location away from the typical tourist hubs – and that’s precisely its allure.

Here, you can immerse yourself in a neighbourhood brimming with local charm and vibrant colours, while still being within a 15-minute drive of Singapore’s major attractions, including Orchard Road, Marina Bay, and Sentosa.

Elegant and thoughtful design

Prior to its opening in March 2023, Momentus Hotel Alexandra has undergone a S$15 million makeover since its rebranding last year, so its interior décor, facilities and rooms are all in impeccable condition. Step into the lobby and you’ll find an air of tranquility and elegance, with a soothing brown and grey tones and a captivating feature wall that serves as an eye-catching backdrop behind the check-in counter islands.

What’s worth mentioning is the hotel’s commitment towards energy conservation and sustainability. Guestrooms are outfitted with smart digital thermostats, while lights and air-conditioning automatically power down when guests leave the room. In addition, in-room filtration taps provides guests with easy access to unlimited drinking water at the turn of a tap – a thoughtful move to reduce plastic bottle usage.

Depending on preferences, various rooms and suite configurations offer anything from a 24sqm Superior room to the spacious 48sqm Executive Suite – all of which share the same contemporary aesthetic, soft colour palettes, and cosy amenities. The Momentum Club Room and Executive Suite offer additional perks including personalised check-in and check-out, buffet breakfast and all-day refreshments, and complimentary access to the Momentum Club Lounge on the 19th floor.

Gorgeous views and perks

Most of the hotel’s key amenities, including the well-equipped gym, are located on the seventh floor. However, the true gem is the 25m-long infinity pool, which offers gorgeous views of The Interlace’s stacked architectural lines – and you can even have a floating bar experience in the water. For more views, sit down with a drink at The Verandah Pool Bar & Grill and watch the sun sink behind the Southern Ridges in the distance.

One of the highlights of the hotel’s F&B offerings is its curated approach to buffets. At the poolside Verandah Rooftop Rotisserie, chefs at live stations dish out fresh cuts of beef and crackling stuffed pork porchetta, but a QR code opens up an a la carte menu for guests to order from. This way, the quality stays warm and fresh in an appetising presentation. Come evenings, the seafood buffet dinner features a delectable spread of fresh oysters, black mussels, shrimps, and some of the biggest shellfish I’ve encountered.

Another enticing option is Momentum Club Lounge, where I relished delightful renditions of local favourites like nasi lemak, otah, and stir-fried beehoon for breakfast. During my visits, the ever-attentive managers, Queenie and Simie, warmly greeted my by name and provided personalised service. And did I mention that the 360-degree views from this 19th floor sanctuary are equally sweeping from its ceiling-to-floor glass windows?

A charming neighbourhood

Singapore’s Alexandra district is renowned among locals as being home to some of the city’s top eats and heritage residences. Just across from the hotel, Alexandra Village Food Centre attracts foodies with its array of local delicacies, including Keng Eng Kee Seafood, featured on the Michelin Guide.

The Queenstown precinct boasts a plethora of local eateries and attractions, like Henderson Wave (top right) and Hort Park (bottom right), that remain undiscovered by many tourists.

The nearby Queenstown shopping centre is a favourite haunt for sportswear, while lush green parks and open spaces – HortPark, Mount Faber Park, and Henderson Waves – are just a leisurely stroll away. Within a 10-minute drive, you can also explore some of the city’s iconic heritage landmarks, such as Gillman Baracks.

After a restful 2N staycation, Momentus Hotel Alexandra definitely leave a big impression with its great food, facilities, views, and service. I’d love to be back again and recommend this property to anyone without hesitation. Whether for business or leisure, this hotel is a perfect base for exploring Singapore.
