The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has launched the “Hong Kong Mega 8” campaign, uniting eight major events across arts, pop culture and sport through March and April.
The line-up includes marquee drawcards such as Art Basel Hong Kong, Art Central, Hong Kong Sevens, LIV Golf Hong Kong, ComplexCon Hong Kong, Champions Day, the Hong Kong Derby and the UCI Track World Cup, reinforcing the city’s positioning as the “Events Capital of Asia”.
The campaign also marks HKTB’s first collaboration with Art Basel Hong Kong to extend art beyond the fairgrounds and into the city’s neighbourhoods.
“Our aim is to maximise the economic benefits of mega events by enhancing the visitor experience, encouraging them to extend their stay in Hong Kong, and creating more business opportunities for the local travel trade and related sectors,” said HKTB chairman, Dr Peter Lam.
Digital art, world-class art projection
A key highlight is Art Basel Hong Kong’s debut of “Zero 10” in Asia, a digital art platform first introduced at Art Basel Miami Beach. The showcase features code-based works, alongside light and sound installations.
South Korean digital artist DeeKay, widely followed by global NFT collectors, will showcase his digital artworks in the “Zero 10” sector.
Extending the experience into the city, HKTB and Art Basel will roll out “Digital Art @ Central” ahead of the fair. DeeKay’s new digital animation artwork, DeePle the People, will animate Central’s urban landscape with around 100 individually designed characters inspired by Hong Kong’s mega events – from dragon boat paddlers and jockeys to chefs and performers.
Local arts guides and community arts
HKTB has also partnered with Art Central to launch the digital “Hong Kong Art Month Discovery Guide”, an all-in-one resource highlighting gallery exhibitions, museum showcases, performing arts programmes and dining recommendations across the city.
Beyond Central, districts will come alive with community-led programming. ArtHouse Tai Hang 2026 will transform 10 historic houses into a pop-up hub of exhibitions, installations, talks and performances alongside local dining experiences.
Meanwhile, Central’s Art Walk will offer guided tours, performance-led walks and public art encounters, inviting visitors to rediscover the district’s iconic sculptures within Hongkong Land’s portfolio.
