South Australia’s major winter festival Illuminate Adelaide will return 1-19 July with a glowing lineup of 11 world premieres, 11 Adelaide exclusives and over 100 experiences and performances.

The annual winter festival will once again transform Adelaide’s CBD and key attractions with a mix of free and ticketed events spanning light, art, music, technology and food.

Anchoring the event is City Lights, a series of free for entry installations across Adelaide’s city streets and parklands, featuring giant piano keys and chess pieces, to glowing benches and overhead light canopies.

Crowd favourite Night Visions returns to Adelaide Botanic Gardens, which will be lit by lasers, projections, and immersive soundscapes.

Meanwhile over to the deep sea, Digital Abyss held at Immersive Light and Art unfolds a marine floor of AI plankton projections, robotic drawings, glowing lightworks, and 3D sculptures.

Those up for a part video, part interactive arena experience can head to the Adelaide Showground, where Augmented Games allows multiplayer digital gaming testing agility, memory and reflexes.

The Adelaide Zoo returns with part two of its prehistoric series, Universal Kingdom: Ice Age, coming alive through puppetry and light installations.

South Australia’s food and beverage scene also gets a spotlight through curated dining experiences, including the immersive Ocean to Plate experience at the Adelaide Convention Centre; Illuminate After Dark at the Adelaide Central Markets; and Symphony of the Senses which features members of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra held at Sofitel Adelaide.
