Starting 1 April 2026, only digital arrival cards will be recognised for foreign visitors entering India’s Delhi International Airport, as the country phases out paper disembarkation forms.

The e-Arrival Card system was introduced in October last year, although paper versions would still be accepted for a transitional period of up to six months.

Travellers including tourists, students and business visitors can fill up their details within four days before arrival – either on the Indian visa online portal or download the ‘Indian Visa Su-Swagatam’ app.

Upon landing in India, the immigration process will differ slightly based on when arrival cards were submitted.

Forms submitted within 72 hours before arrival will need to present a generated code at customs to complete the process. No QR code is required for those who submit the form more than 72 hours before travel.

The requirement is complimentary and does not replace a visa but complements existing entry requirements, as India seeks to streamline border control procedures and enhance security.

As of now, only Delhi International Airport has ended the paper arrival system, with other airports across India expected to implement this gradually.
