As geopolitical tensions and fluctuating airfares continue to reshape travel planning, rail holidays are emerging as a more stable option for travellers seeking greater confidence and flexibility when booking international trips.
Railbookers Group says pricing across many major rail routes and destinations has remained comparatively stable. Compared to air-led itineraries, rail journeys also offer city-centre arrivals, fewer transit touchpoints and the ability to book multiple destinations in a single itinerary.
This is especially as experience-led travel continues to gain momentum.
“Travellers want flexibility, memorable experiences, and confidence in the value of their holiday investment,” said Nick Lim, VP - Asia at Railbookers Group.
“Rail offers all three, showcasing the convenience and comfort of travelling by train for guests,” Lim added.
According to the company, more than 84% of bookings from Southeast Asia are for European rail itineraries. Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Switzerland and Italy are among the strongest performers.
Luxury demand is also growing. One in four searches from Southeast Asia are for premium rail holidays, reflecting continued appetite for slower, more immersive travel experiences.
