Club Med Borneo is gearing up to welcome its first guests to the 400-key all-inclusive resort later this November.

Reservations will open on 24 March for the brand’s second Malaysian property following Club Med Cherating, a move which Stephane Maquaire, president and CEO of Club Med says points to its “commitment to growth in Southeast Asia”.

About 90 minutes from Kota Kinabalu International Airport, the resort sits within a mangrove reserve in Kuala Penyu. Guests arrive through a timber pavilion inspired by Borneo’s traditional Rumah Rungus longhouses, surrounded by forest canopy and waterfalls.

The resort features 400 rooms, including 39 suites, alongside a wide mix of activities and facilities including a splash park and a main infinity pool overlooking 170,000sqm of beachfront.

Children aged 4 months to 17 years can check into the signature kids' club, where programming ranges from circus-style performances to musical shows staged at the resort’s main theatre.

The resort also offers a curated selection of hands-on activities, from local pottery workshops, interactive culinary classes on regional flavours, or traditional dance performances in the evenings.

Dining is included across three main venues: all-day buffet restaurant The Alam, specialty dining and bar concept The Laut, and the beachfront Pasir Bar.

Guests seeking more privacy can retreat to the forest-fringed spa chalet. Additionally, the Mutiara Exclusive Collection enclave offers a private lounge, pool and the Bayu Bar – reserved for guests staying in the exclusive collection area, including the suite category.

Club Med Borneo will also be the brand’s first large-scale BREEAM-certified beach resort in Asia Pacific. Sustainability measures include water-saving technologies, passive cooling through natural ventilation, and partnerships with local conservation groups offering educational programmes for guests.
