Following a management change, the former Sirēya Desaru Coast has reopened as Mandarin Oriental, Desaru Coast on 5 February 2026.

Located along the southeastern shoreline of Johor, Malaysia, the property is within easy access from key local cities and is a 90-minute ferry ride from neighbouring Singapore.

Sitting within 52 hectares of rainforest and 1.5km of beachfront, the resort offers 44 suites, starting from 105sqm. There’s also a four-bedroom pool villa available for larger families or groups.

All accommodations include a private plunge pool, outdoor courtyard, and a veranda overlooking rainforest or sea.

Families with children can tap on the kids club, creative studio, and an outdoor Pelagu Laut playground which encourages free play. Further immersive play is available via junior chef experiences, young gardener sessions and nature detective programmes.

Adults can make time at the spa, which uses natural elements such as coconut, sea salt and algae, as well as scrubs infused with local herbs and spices drawn from the surrounding rainforest. Facials are managed by luxury name Augustinus Bader.

Apart from a 24-hour gym, indoor yoga studio, outdoor yoga pavilion and a 56 metre infinity pool, guests can also participate in activities including tennis, padel, cycling and Silat Melayu, Malaysia's martial art, while meals can be had at the lobby bar and beach club, or the all-day dining restaurant.

More enhancements will continue in the coming months. The resort will also introduce the region's first collection of luxury branded residences.
